Built into the side of the hill, the Amenities Building required 90m³ of rock to be cut away and removed, in order for the building to fit neatly into the landscape, rather than imposing on the natural shape of the hill or affecting access to the adjacent rock pool.
In addition to the Amenities Project TCM Construction Group were also awarded the contract to complete repair works at the Collaroy Rock Pool. Being able to have the two projects running concurrently allowed for synergy of movement for the construction team and only having the one contractor for both projects allowed the Council to leverage existing site set-ups to gain the best economy of scale. The Pool Repair project consisted of Concrete Cancer Repairs where 2.5km of cracks were repaired, along with alterations to the overflow scupper levels to gain a more consistent balance which improved the health and water quality of the pool water.
A new sump was sunk into the base of the pool to assist council staff with their weekly cleaning procedures, along with a new drainage valve to empty the pool. The largest challenge on this project was the removal and replacement of the western concrete board walk. The existing concrete was in a very poor state of repair and removal was required with a new off-form Concrete Board Walk constructed over the water.
This was a signature project for TCM Construction Group as we take great pride in constructing these wonderful community assets for our local community to enjoy.
